This course goes around the perimeter of Numanohara Marsh in Madarao, and is 100% paved, with very few cars on the single lane road.
You can see Iiyama city, Myoko city, and Joetsu city.

From the Madarao Highlands, go through Tangram Madarao, and turn onto a gravel road just before the Furumi village. (Above the corn shop) The gravel road is mostly uphill. It is a forest road that runs around Mt. Madarao. About halfway down, the paved road descends to Lake Nojiri. The cedar trees at the shrine in the village along the way are spectacular.
